These bright and cheerful masks from Opposite of Far are among my favorite toys in the kids’ collection. After admiring them on Instagram for a while I jumped at the chance to join a mask of the month club, signing up to get one in the mail each month for 6 months. It was a great option for us – especially since I could choose which masks we’d receive – but it was over a year ago, so I’m not sure if it’s still available.
Choosing which animals we wanted was so tough! I knew I definitely wanted a bunny, tiger and panda, but the others were influenced by things our little guy was loving at that moment – Curious George, Happy Feet and pretending to be a puppy. Even now, the “doggie” and tiger remain his favorites.
He was quite young when we started our collection and sometimes a bit shy about wearing the masks, but he loved receiving the packages and went through waves where he’d play with them all the time. We’re using them even more as he continues to grow and they’re so well made that I have no doubt our littlest will get many years of imaginative play out of them, too.
Our masks are un-customized, but you can add accents like eyelashes, bows, and hats in a variety of colors. You can also order paws and tails to go with your mask, or opt for just the ears – great for kids who don’t like having something on their face. There are even matching mask sets that your kiddo can put on their favorite doll. And, as with most of the things I love, Opposite of Far ships to Japan.
Do your kids like to dress up when playing make believe? Which mask do you think they’d use most?
